How RING Reduced Inventory Pressure with Flexible Multi-SKU Folding Carton Supply
Project Snopshot
RING product range exceeded 200 items. The company often needed many carton designs at the same time, but the required quantity for each individual SKU could be relatively small.
Producing larger quantities usually lowers folding carton unit cost, but receiving all of that stock at once would increase the client’s warehousing burden in the UK.
With the same brand appearing across many automotive products and repeat production batches, pricing flexibility could not come at the expense of stable printing and retail presentation.
PackCCP agreed to manufacture practical quantities of selected folding cartons and hold part of the finished stock in our own warehouse. RING could then release cartons according to actual demand instead of receiving every produced unit immediately, helping reduce pressure on its UK storage space.
Because stored cartons represented committed inventory, both sides agreed that existing stock would be cleared before major design changes were introduced. This created a workable balance between packaging flexibility and the cost risk associated with obsolete printed cartons.
Stored packaging was not treated as automatically ready to ship. Before each release, PackCCP carried out another inspection of the cartons being dispatched. This added a second control point for long-term inventory and helped maintain stable print and packaging quality across repeat shipments.
