J Friend & Co Mānuka Honey Folding Cartons and Labels on Tight Timeline

J Friend & Co Mānuka Honey Folding Cartons and Labels on Tight Timeline

With no in-house packaging designer and only a one-week production window for each run, New Zealand honey brand J Friend & Co needed more than a printing supplier. PackCCP handled repeated artwork revisions for its honey cartons and jar labels, then moved approved designs into expedited production. The collaboration ultimately earned a customer referral.

00 Projektübersicht

J Friend & Co, a boutique honey brand from New Zealand, needed custom packaging for its Mānuka honey products but had no dedicated designer to prepare the carton and jar-label artwork. The challenge was made more demanding by a production schedule that allowed only about one week per run. PackCCP took an active role in translating the client’s ideas into packaging designs, managing repeated revisions, and arranging urgent production as soon as the artwork was approved.

01 Die Herausforderungen

No In-House Packaging Designer

J Friend & Co had packaging ideas but lacked a dedicated designer to prepare and revise the carton and label artwork. The supplier needed to help turn feedback into usable designs rather than simply print supplied files.

Cartons and Jar Labels Needed Coordination

The brand was sourcing two different printed products: folding cartons and honey jar labels. Artwork changes had to be managed across these packaging requirements, adding another layer of communication and preparation.

Only One Week for Production

Each production cycle had a time allowance of just one week. Repeated design revisions could easily consume time intended for manufacturing, leaving little room for delayed decisions or extended approval rounds.

02 Unsere Lösungen

The priority was to keep artwork development flexible without allowing repeated revisions to consume the client’s limited production window.

Taking an Active Role in Artwork Development

With no in-house designer on the client's side, PackCCP's design team worked from J Friend & Co's ideas and feedback. Rather than expecting finished print files, we assisted with carton and label artwork and handled repeated modifications until the client was satisfied with the design direction.

Preparing the Honey Carton for Production

The 250g Mānuka honey packaging used a double-tuck folding carton with a 65 × 65 × 88 mm outer size. Its artwork combined dark-red graphics, gold-foil design details, Produktinformationen, and a barcode across the carton panels. Organizing these elements on the dieline provided a practical basis for reviewing the flat artwork and assembled box.

Moving Straight Into Urgent Production After Approval

Time management was critical because the client's production cycles allowed only about one week. Our team continued revising the artwork as needed, then arranged expedited production immediately after final confirmation. This kept the customer's requested changes within the workflow without introducing an unnecessary waiting period between design approval and manufacturing.
