00 Projektübersicht

Mendel’s Oslo wanted to give its cakes a more distinctive presentation with a box that looked refined but remained practical to use. The challenge was finding a foldable construction that would work within the desired dimensions. PackCCP explored alternative box styles and developed a side-opening design that kept the overall size compact. A physical sample was made and checked with an actual cake, allowing the client to review the proportions and presentation before moving into production.

01 Die Herausforderungen

Finding the Right Folding Structure

The client originally requested a foldable box, but the intended dimensions made the initial construction difficult to achieve. A different structural approach was needed to retain the folding feature without compromising the box design.

Keeping the Box Compact

The packaging needed to accommodate the cake without becoming unnecessarily large. Getting the proportions right was especially important for a box intended to feel like a premium bakery gift rather than an oversized shipping carton.

Creating More Distinctive Presentation

Beyond the structure, Mendel’s Oslo wanted a box that complemented its brand. The decorative pattern, logo relief, and opening style needed to come together in a finished package that felt carefully designed.

02 Unsere Lösungen

We explored a different box construction, tested it with the actual product, and refined the details that would give the packaging its finished character.

Rethinking the Box Construction

Rather than simply increasing the box dimensions, PackCCP presented alternative styles for the client to consider. A side-opening, book-style construction offered a better direction, allowing the box to remain foldable while keeping its proportions manageable.

Checking the Fit with Real Cake

We prepared a blank sample and placed an actual cake inside to review the space and overall presentation. Photos and videos were shared with the client so they could see how the box opened and how the cake looked inside before approving the design. This gave the client a much clearer reference than a structural drawing alone.

Bringing the Brand Details Together

The final design incorporated a decorative surface pattern and an embossed logo. These elements added visual interest and a subtle tactile detail, giving the cake box a more finished, gift-like appearance.
