How SONECO Built Confidence in Its First Custom Packaging Import

How SONECO Built Confidence in Its First Custom Packaging Import

For Belgian brand SONECO, the challenge was not simply finding someone who could manufacture custom cartons. As a first-time importer, the client needed a packaging supplier that could give clear recommendations, respond quickly, catch details early, and turn a premium visual idea into a result they could confidently approve.

00  Project Overview

SONECO approached the project with a premium packaging idea but little experience in turning that idea into production specifications. More importantly, this was the client’s first import, so supplier reliability mattered as much as the packaging itself. PackCCP focused on making each decision easier to verify—from showing relevant past work and recommending suitable materials and finishes to rapid sampling, detail checking, and clear communication throughout the project.

01  The Challenges

Too Many Promises — Not Enough Clarity

The client had already encountered suppliers who said the packaging could be made, but the communication did not give enough confidence. SONECO needed more than a quick “yes”—they needed clear answers and evidence that the supplier understood the desired result.

A Premium Look Without Packaging Experience

SONECO knew the packaging needed to feel refined and high-end, but did not have extensive experience selecting materials or finishing processes. The visual goal therefore had to be translated into practical production choices.

First-Time Import Uncertainty

This was the client’s first import project. Packaging development was already unfamiliar, and the added questions around ordering, coordination, and international delivery made a reliable communication process especially important.

02  Our Solutions

Instead of asking the client to trust promises, we gave them practical reference points at each decision stage.

Showing Relevant Work Before Asking for Commitment

PackCCP prepared examples from similar packaging projects so SONECO could evaluate our experience before moving further. This gave the discussion a concrete starting point and made material, appearance, and finishing recommendations easier to understand than relying on verbal assurances alone.

Translating “Premium” Into Specific Packaging Choices

Because the client wanted an elevated appearance but needed professional guidance, Jennifer recommended suitable material and finishing directions rather than leaving the client to choose from a long list of unfamiliar options. Details were reviewed carefully, and errors identified during the process were corrected before they could affect the finished result.

Using Speed and Physical Proof to Build Confidence

Custom sampling was arranged within 3–5 days, allowing the client to evaluate the packaging direction quickly. Communication remained responsive as visual details and texture were confirmed, giving SONECO a tangible basis for approval rather than forcing decisions from specifications alone.
